Frequently asked questions about Therapies

How long are the sessions?

All sessions last between 50-60 minutes fr adults.

Childrens sessions last between 30- 60 minutes. Your counsellor will discuss this with you during your childs assessment session. Things we take into consideration are your childs age and attention span.

What if I don't "click" with my counsellor?

It's so important that you feel like you can connect with your therapist, sometimes this just doesn't happen. Please give us a ring and let us know if you don't connect with your therapist and we will try again with a different therapist.

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?

We understand life happens and whilst we try to be as supportive as possible, we do require 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment otherwise we will ask you to cover the cost of the session.

As a non funded organisation our ongoing costs remain the same and ti's important that we keep our affordable counselling service as low as possible, one way to guarantee this is by kindly requesting that you respect our payment cancellation policy.

Can I bring someone to my session?

Coming to our centre for the first time can be daunting for some, if this is you we encourage you to bring someone with you for support and encouragement.

We will suggest that your guest stays in reception during your session. If you would like them to come into the counselling room with you, this can be accomodated but we will encourage that they only come in for half the session. This allows some time for you and your therapist to get to know each other and for you to share as much as possible what's brought you to counselling.

What happens if I am late for my session?

Again, we know life happens.

If you can, give us a ring or send us a text so that we know you're going to be late. If we don't hear from you and you're more than 20 minutes late for your session, your therpist may not be available to see you and you will lose your payment for this session.

Your session will still finish at the usual time.

How do I know what kind of therapy I need?

When you book your appointment our office team will ask you some questions to find out what your needs are. They are very good at placing clients with great therapists to meet your needs. Your therapist will also explore this with you during your first session.

Is there a limit on the number of sessions I can attend?

No! You can attend as many sessions as you need, we do not limit sessions like the NHS.

Are sessions online or face to face?

You have the choice of both. Some of our locations only have online appointments available at the moment, you can find out which locations offer face to face therapy by checking your location on our website or giving the office a ring.
