What we'll explore

We have created a comprehensive overview of counselling in our Introduction to Counselling Course which covers all of the essentials when it comes to understanding more about the role of a counsellor, how theory is applied in practice and the importance of self development.


The lessons will cover a variety of:

  • Theory including Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural therapy, Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis
  • Initaiting, developing and ending a helping relationship 
  • Practical application which will be completed in the Zoom break out rooms
  • Group discussions on a variety of topics including boundaries, stereotypes, self care and more
  • Creative activities to further enhance your "tool kit" and enhance your self awareness

Each lesson you will engage in live teaching.

  • Traditional teaching methods

All sessions are delivered online

Zoom

The course will be delivered over Zoom each week.

One week before the course starts you will be emailed the Zoom link which will be used for all sessions.

We will facilitate skills practice using Zoom break out rooms.

As with classroom learning we request that you turn your phones on silent so that you're not disturbed, you're in a quite and confidential space and that you're fully engaged for the live teaching sessions.

How you’ll be assessed

You will be asked to keep a journal throughout the course to demonstrate your developing self awareness.

 

On Completion

On completion of this course you will be issued with a certificate of attendance and an overview of the topics we have explored throughout the course.

These will be posted out to you 2 weeks after the course has ended.

 

NB that you will not be qualified academically or ethically to work as a counsellor on completion of this course.
